Happy Birthday for Grandmother

It’s time again to wish a "Happy Birthday" to my great-great grandmother Eliza Cotter who would be 181 years old this St. Patrick's Day. She was born on a March 17 near Newry in County Armagh. She had a daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" (my great-grandmother), who like my granddaughter Anna was born on Christmas Day. And, of course, my other granddaughter is named Erin. Myself, more like an ordinary three-leaf clover, was born on the third day of the third month of 1930.

Jacqueline (Krebs) Broderick is gravely ill.

Jacqueline (Krebs) Broderick is very ill, her sister Marcia Hill reports. She was having trouble using her left hand, and it was thought that she might have had a stroke. A brain scan, however, showed brain cancer. Her lung cancer of ten years ago had metastasized there. She was given ten radiation treatments and was told she has one to three months to live. This was about a month ago. She has been going downhill rapidly and has moved to the extended care unit at Friendship Village in Columbus. The prognosis is not good.

Her daughter, Barb, works for the alcohol and drug use department for the State of Ohio and they have given her a laptop computer so she can do her work from Jackie's bedside.

Jackie is the daughter of the late Winifred (Liggett) and Lloyd Krebs. She was very good at paying attention to her aunt, the late Mary Ong, by going places with her.

Barb will keep Marcia posted.
